Pulse diagnostics

Pulse diagnosis is based on ancient knowledge

Pulse diagnosis is used in traditional Chinese medicine, Ayurveda and naturopathy and provides information about the overall energetic state of a person.

What does pulse diagnostics detect?

Pulse diagnosis is based on ancient knowledge and provides information about specific organs and their functionality. It was already used by Hippocrates and is also widespread in Chinese medicine TCM and Ayurveda. Conventional medicine also uses pulse diagnosis, focusing primarily on the heart and circulatory system.

In traditional naturopathy, pulse diagnosis provides insight into the overall energetic state of a person and their organism. It is one of the most important methods for assessing the current disease situation. In a way, the pulse is the pulse generator for life.

When feeling the pulse, criteria such as strength or weakness of the pulse wave, rhythm, length and width as well as quality (e.g. bumpy, superficial, irregular, tense) are analyzed. A distinction is made between different pulse types, which contribute to the overall diagnostic picture.

Pulse diagnostics is an important examination method and is regarded as an important and reliable assessment of a disease or the course of a disease. The various medical systems describe a variety of pulse qualities that can be differentiated.

The pulse diagnosis of Traditional European Medicine goes far beyond recording the number of pulse beats.

In the short term, the pulse indicates the current vegetative state of the body. In the past, when there was no mercury thermometer, this was sometimes the only way to describe an acute febrile illness and make a diagnosis.
